Touch of Prints

I felt like doing some collage-style stamping on Sunday, so I decided to make the card for the Boomerang Sketch Challenge blog. Boomerang is one of the first stamping yahoogroups I joined way back when, and the only one I am still active on, so many things to fill a day now I just don't have time for them all! Anyway, when I started working on the card I had thought I would do some crayon resist, so I started with some white gloss, cut it in half and started stamping. I then decided that it might be better to mask the areas I didn't want other things, which I did to one piece and then forgot to move the masks to this second piece! I also sponged Blue Bayou ink over the other piece, and it was all just a bit much and that piece fo cardstock now resides in the bin. Oh well, you can't win them all! The butterfly has been stamped on Blue Bayou cardstock using StazOn Jet Black and I then coloured it with a blender pen and Whisper White craft ink (picked up from the lid of the ink pad). The Fine Lace background is a second-generation impression (initial impression stamped off on scrap so the colour isn't as intense).

KW Colour Challenge #14

Kristina has posted quite a different colour challenge this time! You may notice some new products on my card... that's because a Spring mini catalogue is on it's way and I received my pre-order yesterday. I had just finished mounting all my (die cut!) sets when I saw Kristina's challenge so just had to use some new stuff on it. The En Francais background was embossed with clear embossing powder, the Always heart embossed with white embossing powder and sections inside were coloured with a black marker. On the ribbon I have used a ribbon slide from the new Styled Silver hodgepodge - this stuff is gorgeous and I can't wait to play more!

All supplies by Stampin' Up!

Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Gray
Stamp Sets: Always, En Francais
Ink: VersaMark
Accessories: Clear embossing powder, White embossing powder, Basic Gray taffeta ribbon, Basic Black marker, Styled Silver hodgepodge

Cherished Florals

Last week the Inklings had a cyberstamp. I was a bit slow with completing the challenges, and with my net troubles I'm only just getting them uploaded now! This one was my response to challenge 1. It was a scrapping sketch challenge, but well all know I don't scrap wink (well, I didn't have any photos on hand, the print needs new ink etc etc...) but I thought it'd make a nice card. I've used the En Francais and Floral backgrounds as well as a few stamps from Baroque Motifs (yes, that one is a new favourite!), lots of VersaMark, some Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive and Whisper White ink (I'm falling back in love with that). Cardstock is Confetti White, Pale Plum and Old Olive. The card is covered in stamped images so I decided to have a non-stamped focal point and pulled out the Pretties kit again. The smaller flower has been died with a few drops of Purely Pomegranate ink, the large one left white and in the centre is a medium lilac circle rhinestone brad. If I had my time over the Old Olive piece would be a little lower, but it's a minor quibble... I really enjoyed making this card because I forced myself not to think about it too much, just get on with the stamping!

Best Wishes from the Beachfront

This card was for Grandma who has a thing for sailing and the beach. So for her card I decided to draw inspiration from the "Beachfront" Ribbon Originals pack, adding a bit of Bashful Blue to brighten the colour scheme a bit. For the main image I stamped a flower from the hostess set Oh, So Lovely on Whisper White using Basic Grey ink. I then watercoloured the image using an aquapainter to pick up colour from the lids of the inkpads, and layered it on Basic Grey. The large Whisper White background piece actually has En Francais stamped on it using VersaMark, I know it is hard to see in the photo but in person it looks great. The sentiment is from Take Three, also stamped in Basic Grey, trimmed to size and then one end shaped by sliding it through the back of the Word Window punch, accessories are Sahara Sand ribbon from the Beachfront pack, a Bashful Blue brad, some white cotton thread, and it's all mounted on a River Rock card base.
