I recently took part in a Christmas card swap with some other demos in the team. This is the card I made for the swap, featuring In The Spotlight with a bit of Party Punch, two Stampin' Up! hostess sets. There were a few tricks to this card, but overall I think it's relatively simple. You've no doubt read me mention many times how I have made my own markers for the In Colors using blender pens and the ink refills. One of the benefits of using markers to ink your stamps is that you can omit parts that you don't need for your design. For this card I wanted to omit the center of the Party Punch image, so I simply coloured around it with my Purely Pomegranate and River Rock "markers". Where this part of the image was omitted I instead stamped one of the In The Spotlight motifs.Another little trick was with the layering of the main image, which has been punched out with the Designer Label punch. I first layered a 1 1/4" circle of Purely Pomegranate under the Label, then cut some Old Olive 2.4cm wide, giving a margin behind the Label much the same as the circle does around the round part of the Designer Label. When making more than one card I found it much easier to cut a long strip and then half cut the cardstock at the length for each label layer (4.1cm), and use the 1/4" circle punch to cut semi-circles out at these half-cuts. I'm sure this is all sounding very confusing, but I do have a visual aide to help!
It's not all that clear in the top image, but the white dots are on raised stripes in the cardstock which were created by turning the cardstock over and running the scoring blade of my paper trimmer over it.All supplies by Stampin' Up!
