KW Colour Inspiration #39

Kristina's colours this week were quite a departure from our recent ones, and I spent quite some time thinking "what the heck am I going to do with these?" - they are so not anything like what I normally go for! Once I decided on this set things did come a lot easier. I started by inking just the bottom section of the stamp, the solid negative of flowers, with VersaMark and stamped this on Whisper White cardstock then heat embossed in black. Then I took two pieces of Basic Black, stamped part of the background on both of these and heat embossed these in black also. I did the background in two sections so I could avoid most of the solid negative of flowers. This was important for my original plan for this card but things changed and ultimately they weren't going to clash but I still think it worked better that way. However I think the ribbon, covering the join, is a bit high and throws the balance off a bit. I used my aquapainter to wet the white areas before colouring them. I used markers for the Red and Saffron and the aquapainter to pick up colour from the Green Galore inkpad so I could have a paler green for the petals.

All supplies by Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: So Saffron, Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: VersaMark; Green Galore for watercolouring
Stamp set: Happiness
Accessories: black embossing powder, Fairytale Ribbon Originals, scallop square punch, 1 1/4" square punch, Real Red marker, So Saffron marker, aquapainter, dimensionals
Show watched while creating: S4 dvd extras of LOST (in preparation for season 5, which has started in the States but not in Aus so if you haven't seen it yet, be warned there are likely to be spoilers at the link!)
