Purple Makes My Heart Happy

No, I just can't help myself! This card was another one for the recent Elite cyberstamp. The challenge here was to use a colour combination from one page of the SU! Technique booklet and use it to recreate a card on another page in the booklet. Unfortunately I don't know where my heatgun is (but I do know where my towel is...), so I couldn't do emboss resist and had to settle for VersaMark resist or "ghosting". My colours are Almost Amethyst, Sage Shadow, Lavender Lace and Bashful Blue. I've stamped the large flower and swirly stamp from the Sell-a-brations set Friendship Blooms on gloss white cardstock using VersaMark then sponged Lavender Lace ink over the top. I think the Lavender ink would have gone on less blotchy if I had used sponges instead of daubers for this large an area, but you live and learn. Still quite pleased with how this came out.

Colour Challenged

This is one of those cards that didn't turn out quite like it should have. The Inklings cyberstamp colour challenge was Vintage Violet, Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip and Ruby Red. There I was, merrily stamping away and assembling my card. When it came to going over the paper piercing with the Chocolate Chip marker I suddenly realised I had made an error - I'd grabbed the Close To Cocoa inkpad instead of Chocolate Chip! Suddenly it all made sense why the brown wasn't showing up as much as I thought it should. Hopefully I'll get around to remaking this card with the right colours soon, and it'll be interesting to compare the difference, but at the time I felt like such a goose that I just couldn't face it (I also had to get dinner ready). The stamps I used are from Friendship Blooms, quite possibly my favourite Sale-A-Bration set.

ETA: I forgot to mention that the layout for this card is from a Janelle Richmond sketch.

Simple Friendship

Here's another card from the day at Jayne's place. The challenge for this one was to create a one layer card. I was having trouble getting started and settling on colours to use until Kim threw a colour challenge at me as well. I picked out Creamy Caramel, she nominated Tempting Turquoise and Regal Rose. After that (and some lunch - a yummy quiche cooked by Kim) the card just fell together biggrin. I went for a Caramel layer and strip of Whisper White with stamps from the SAB set Friendship Blooms. The sentiment is in Tempting Turquoise, the flower trio stamp has been inked with the Caramel, Turquoise and Rose markers. The swirly/scrolly stamp from the same set was then stamped on the base card with Caramel, my one and only layer mounted on top and then I paper pierced along the top and bottom of the white layer. Quite a simple card, but I like how it turned out... I could easily play with this colour combination more!
