The New Desk

Yesterday morning, my craft desk looked like this:24 hours later it looks like this:
My lovely new desk is a Bridgeton desk and hutch. Now I need the three-drawer filing cabinet and I'll be pretty much set wink It wasn't cheap, but it was pretty much the only thing that really suited. And it's frelling heavy! Still lots of sorting uot and trialling to be done of course. And creating biggrin

status quo

Remember this? Well, I thought it might be interesting to share a photo of what the table is looking like now.
First off... I have nothing to do with the colour of the walls! That's what colour they were when Glenn bought the place and it's the last room (other than the bathroom) to be done... it's always been put in the too hard basket having to move the furniture out, but just maybe it will get done now... Anyway... the computer was on the floor for a week before I got the brainwave of moving the dining table up to put it on... then I found that it was gloriously deep for a computer table and I could push the keyboard back and have room to create biggrin. The bookshelf only had craft stuff on the top shelf, but I've managed to rearrange things a few times so that more important stuff is at hand. The printer/scanner is on the toybox section of the bookshelf, and in front of that is one of those big white folding tables that was covered in stuff relocated from the other rooms till I did some reorganising there too. Quite a few of my stamps sets are in my rolling tote under the white table, or on the table. Ones I'm not using at the moment are still down in the pantry. I still have quite a few supplies scattered around the house, but despite the mayhem I now have more things nearby than ever before, which makes it all tollerable.

Bareback birthday

My card for the day:

The Bareback SU set is actually my sisters, and I stamped these images while she was down a month ago. The horses are stamped in VersaFine Vintage Sepia, the Sugarloaf greeting (only part of the stamp) is in Adirondack Ginger, which is also what I used to sponge the edges of the cream cardstock.

The table did get a half-hearted tidy today... just like me to do that AFTER the photo :-D Hopefully I'll sort out some wonderful sollution to my disorganisation and then I can provide the classic one-off crisp & clean craft space photo.

a begining

ok, so this isn't my first blog. But I thought it would be nice to have one central place where I post about my creative endeavours.

Since I didn't make a card today I thought I would instead post a pic of where the magic usually takes place. Well... kinda. I don't have a craft room, I don't even have a dedicated area. It's just taking over the house here, there and everywhere! I stamp at the kitchen bench, took over the kitchen table a long time ago (which is where I have some sort of a storage set up, but mostly it's somewhere to move things when the bench is needed), and I have things in the linen cupboard, pantry and another cupboard. Anyway, here is a picture of the table:
This is pretty standard... complete mess! I've just finished making a heap of cards for the school fete and haven't got around to cleaning up yet. The drawers house some inkpads and reinkers, craft knives (I use a blunt one for scoring and a sharp one for cutting), water pens, scissors and other stuff like that. Another drawer has plastic bags of various types and sizes that I use for packaging swaps and things. Top drawer on the left is scrap paper, lower down is unfinished cards, templates and cardstock that has been cut into and I have been too lazy to file straight away. On the right is some chipboard, sponges, punchies. The empty fruit bowl is the last remnant of the kitchen tables real purpose (was filed not long after when we returned from doing the groceries). On top of the right drawer is rubber off-cuts (which I have saved thinking I will cut up into my own stamps...), there's also a paper bag with card scraps that I use for testing colours on. Sometimes there's something large enough to be useable, but the way things have been shoved in more often than not it's too scrunched to be used. And yes, there are stamps piled on that chair because there isn't room in my fielcases for them. As you can see... a lot of sorting out to do. Boy do I need to work out some better storage and organisation!
