A Day Late And...

Happy St. Patricks Day!I really should have had this post scheduled, but thought I'd have time to do that yesterday morning. But my day was completely thrown out of whack with news that the 09/10 SU catty was starting to arrive on demonstrator doorsteps, and things like this fell by the way-side. Hey, I did get the sheets washed, so the day wasn't a compelte write-off! Anyway, this card was made for our March Inklings cyberstamp but I held off sharing until the day (well, it'd just still St Pats in Ireland wouldn't it???). Very simple, but I like it. The clover is actually a trimmed Flower Fusion flower.

And yes, my own pre-ordered catties arrived cool

Groovy Baby!

I've just uploaded this card over at the Elite Challenges blog, but I wanted to say a bit more about it here. After making the Bride & Prejudice card I felt like playing with more bright colours, and for something different I thought I'd try emerging colour with Bodacious Bouquet. What an interesting combination that turned out to be! Every time I look at it I start singing Miss Free Love! I would have loved something that said "groovy baby" or the like, but unfortunately this was the closest I had. I also find it really interesting how the Orchid seems to have separated a bit on the gloss cardstock, making those berries even more psychadelic.

I also wanted to let you know that has been anotehr update to the retiring list, with a lot of product now being listed as low in quantity, so you really do need to get in quick if you are after any of those items.

Bodacious Pastels

One last card featuring products from this months promo... the background for this card was something I made for a Kristina colour inspiration challenge and then changed my mind and it's been floating around the room ever since. I came across it the other day, and decided to incorporate it into a catalogue CASEing challenge from a demo Yahoo group I am on (excuse me for being lazy and not finding a link for you, I'm beat from staying up too late last night and shopping with my girls all day today). For those who haven't come across the term before, CASE stands for "Copy And Steal Everything", though in most cases (no pun intended) there are a good deal of changes made in the copying. Anyway, this hasn't really come out how I intended, but it's a bright and cheery card which is quite fitting for our weather lately.

KW Colour Inspiration #21

Sorry for not posting more this week, all that time without a computer and sorting a new one out and I am completely out of the habit of blogging. But I return tonight with my card for Kristina's latest colour challenge. I was halfway through my card when it took a sharp turn and ended up completely different. Not entirely happy with it, but I think I am still getting back into the habit of creating. It probably didn't help that the card was created in the dark, just my OTT lite on as there was a sleepyhead in bed in the same room. Which also meant I wasn't watching any shows while crafting sad

Bright and Bodacious

I made this card for Beate's sketch challenge #51. I started it Saturday (ok, that was just picking the colours, but it was a start), but with being sick and all I didn't finish it till Tuesday, photographed it Wednesday... talk about snails pace! I did make two though, that makes it all slightly better. Anyway, the details: Lovely Lilac card base, Garden Green under the Whisper White layer has been scallop-edge with the corner rounder punch, Whisper White layer randomly stamped with the small leaf and smaller flowers from Bodaicious Bouquet in Garden Green, Lovely Lilac and Tempting Turquoise. Large flower and leaf stamped on Whisper White as well and cut out, layered on Tempting Turquoise (stamped with a Frame with a Flourish in Whisper White) and mounted on card front with dimensionals. The scallop edge I also dotted with the white gel pen.

Posted just in time for this weekends sketch from Beate! lol

Gone troppo

I've been thinking a lot about stamping lately... but my brain has been as scattered as my supplies (and I thought they were spread out all over the house before!). To say I have been going crazy is an understatement. This morning I decided to give up on things being set up in the kitchen again any time soon, and rearranged some stuff in the new 'junk room' (formerly the main bedroom, but until the ruined wardrobe is ripped out, pretty much everything is dumped in here) so it was slightly easier to pull some supplies together and create again. Tracey's colour challenge from the recent Elite Stampers cyber night has been playing on my mind, so I decided to give it a go and this is what I came up with:

For a while the inclusion of Blush Blossom really threw me, but I kept it to a minimum and I think it has turned out ok. I also resisted the urge to include a neutral. I sponged the Bodacious Boquet flower with Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie inks (using the Pumpkin Pie marker on the dots in the center) and stamped this on Blush Blossom. As the coloured cardstock isn't as smooth as the Whisper White, solid stamps tend not to come out with flat colour, so I used an Aquapainter to help spread the colour and even things out. Cutting the flower out got rid of the little bit of bleeding of colour that occured. I made the Tempting Turquoise scalloped square by using the large rectangle from the Petal Card & Tags die cut sheet as a template. The Rose Red base card was stamped with the curled 'leaf' stamp in VersaMark and I took to the bottom corners with the corner rounder. On the base card I mounted a layer of Blush Blossom cardstock, and a layer of Pumpkin Pie that had been stamped with the small solid leaf (also in VersaMark). Over this I tied some turquoise grosgrain ribbon with an 's' clip from the Pewter Hodge Podge tin, then mounted the scalloped square and flower with dimensionals.

Retro Paisley Flower

Vicki posted a challange on the Scrapbook Divas forum to make a card featuring a hand made flower. After a minor freak out some ideas started flowing in my head, then Vicki relented and mentioned the retro flower punch was ok to use... well I thought that was too easy! But it did plant a seed...

I punched the flower out of some scrap paper to create a reverse mask, laid it over the fab Stampin' Up! Paisley background stamp (inked in Regal Rose), then laid my Whisper White cardstock over top and rubbed over it. Stamped the stem and flowers (from Bodacious Bouquet) in Green Galore. The sentiment (from Bloom with Happiness hostess set) was stamped on some scrap Whisper White using Glorious Green then punched out with the large oval punch, edged with Glorious Green ink and mounted on dimensionals. To finish the card off I added a couple of Carl butterfly punchies (the small one is CP1, large one is CP2) that had been punched from some shimmery wrapping paper, and a Crystal epoxy sticker for the flower center. Card base is Regal Rose cardstock.

Can't believe it has been over a week since I last posted, I don't know where the time went! I hadn't created anything for a while, but last Wednesday and Thursday I got a lot done... just forgot to edit and upload the photos after I put them on the computer. Think I was distracted by the new LOST to download and my boxes of SU goodies arriving. Haven't been completely with it today after a busy day yesterday, very little sleep last night and weather that was far too warm for mid autumn, so I am only posting the one card tonight and getting to bed at a reasonable hour!
