Happy Dreams

I really loved this set, Happy Harmony, that was only available during Sell-a-bration earlier this year. I've been wanting to use it again for a while and finally decided on something it would work well with, though an old faithful layout. While shuffling through my salvaged papers I decided that these two worked quite nicely together and made for a quick(er) card. The flowers and sentiment have been inked using Elegant Eggplant, Lovely Lilac and Old Olive markers. The card base is Elegant Eggplant, with layers of Going Grey and more Elegant Eggplant. The ribbon is from Spotlight, and the brad is Doodlebug Lilac.

Then I decided to remake the card, but give it a tweak. I have this compulsion for putting darker colours at the bottom of a card (to 'ground' things I guess). So for the next card I flipped things around, and used a Plum brad instead. I think I like the second one slightly better as it's a but more unusual and interesting to my mind.

In other news, we finally picked up our new lounges today. YAY! It's nice to actually have something to sit on again.

Pretty Papers

Have you heard of the "Snip Snip Club"? It's for people who buy lots of pretty papers but can't bring themselves to cut into them. Now, I guess I was never a fully fledged member, but I must confess to having a stack of gorgeous paper that I just haven't used much. As most of you will know, when the June storm hit Newcastle, we had water go through our house. Sadly, some of my craft stuff was affected, including my horde or pretty papers. Initially I took it all over to the in-laws to sort through ($3000 odd of craft stuff alone on our insurance claim!), and I've decided it's high time I started moving it back from their place so they can have full use of their air hockey table again. I started by grabbing a wad of shimmery papers that were slightly water affected along the bottom, giving me a bit over half a sheet of each to work with. With these papers I always find it hard to cover them, so I found myself largely just adding a sentiment and an embellishment or two to them, but oh well... those papers are just so gosh darn gorgeous! Anyway, after that lengthy pre-amble, here's a couple of them...
Not sure who the manufacturer of this paper is. As soon as I pulled it out again I thought that Brilliance Pearlescent Beige ink was a perfect match for it, and it was! I've used Very Vanilla and Creamy Caramel cardstock, some Aged Copper Hodge Podge, a Making Memories brad for the flower centre, and some organza and skinny satin ribbon from my stash (aka I've got no idea where I bought them). The flowers are from the Looks Like Spring set, sentiment from Sincere Salutations.
I'm pretty sure these papers are made by Christina Rei. I had used some of the pink piece in the past and knew that Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid ink was a good match for the colour. For the green I found that Mellow Moss was a pretty good match. Cardbase is Mellow Moss, the Looks Like Spring flower has been stamped in the Orchid ink on Blush Blossom cardstock, the sentiment (from the SAB set Happy Harmony) has been stamped in Always Artichoke on Whisper White, punched out with the large oval punch, then the edge rolled across the Artichoke inkpad. For the flower centre I punched out a 3/4" circle from a scrap of the pink paper and coated it in 3D Lacquer (like Crystal Effects or Dimensional Magic... a very old bottle that I wasn't sure would still be ok to work with!).

It was a little odd to make some cards without a lot of stamping, but those papers make up for it I think ;-D

Big Life Primas

Finally managing to get some time to stamp. Like a lot of people I have been reading about lately, I made a resolution/aim/intention to use old, neglected supplies. But I couldn't just turn my back on some new stamps, so I combined the SU! Sellabration "Happy Harmony" set with the SU! "Fine Lace" background stamp that I have had for a while, along with Prima's, brads and assorted cardstock, most of which has been sitting in my stash for a good long while.

The lace and flowers were stamped in VersaMark, with SU! pastels in "Mellow Moss" applied to the flower stems. The sentiment was stamped in VersaFine "Imperial Purple".

Black and white Harmony

Last week I submitted another four cards to Australian Paper Crafts, and today I found out that three of them had been accepted! Ironically, my favourite of the four was not selected (I suspect because it used a different stamp set to the others so didn't really fit in), but the good news with that is - it is now blog candy!

The black and white card are SU!, the grey is from my horde, the paper is Bo Bunny, inks used are VersaFine. The flower and sentiment stamp are from the Sellabration 'Happy Harmony' set, for the dots around the outside of the flower image is masked the flower and used a large dotty background stamp from the Fancifuls Inc "Fairy Garden" plate.
