Bauble Greetings

Last Christmas I remember seeing quite a few cards with the colour combination of Bravo Burgundy and Pretty in Pink. I'm not much of a pink person at the best of times, but some of the creations looked really nice, so I thought for something different I'd give it a go. This card was also somewhat inspired by Marelle. The baubles are from the SU Crazy For Christmas set, the sentiment is by Stampendous (I think... it's packed away again now and I don't want to make a mess pulling it out again), colours are Bravo Burgundy, Pretty in Pink, Ivory Naturals and Whisper White, woth the baubles coloured using an Aquapainter and white gel pen. All products, except the sentiment, are by Stampin' Up!

Merry & Bright - Hot Trees

Every year I plan to start Christmas cards early on so it's not so much of a rush later in the year. More often than not, it doesn't happen. In which case I try and get stuck into them from July. That didn't happen this year either. When the Christmas decorations started appearing in the shops I got a little freaked out and have been in full Christmas card mode for a few weeks now. I think I am well and truly covered now, but the ideas keep coming!

This has been a favourite colour combination for a while, coming from decorations I saw in Myer a few years ago (and the colours are much like the 'Hot Tropics' range of Prima flowers). Well, let's face it... I'm probably gonna love anything with purple in it! When it came to colouring the trees I found the Elegant Eggplant was just a bit too dark, and it took a bit of experimenting to find something I was happy with. I finally settled on using the Orchid Opulence marker like an Aquapainter and using it to pick up colour from the lid of the Elegant Eggplant inkpad. Other colours used are Pixie Pink, Real Red and Only Orange. The layout for the card was a Di Hickman sketch. All products by Stampin' Up!

Green Crazy

My SU! up-up-line Angela challenged her downlines to make a monochromatic card this week. I love doing monochromatic! Normally my weapon of choice would be purple, but I am trying to challenge myself and avoid purple for a little while. So instead I chose green, and I decided to do a Christmas card, so it had to be trees! I was even more limited in that I only have Green Galore as far as green ink pads go, so this is what I came up with:

I think I over-did the sponged edge a little, and am tempted to re-do this card but sponge the edges with VersaMark instead to create a bit more contrast and variance in colour, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
