Inklings Cyberstamp Challenge 1

Last Thursday night I hosted the February Inklings Cyberstamp. I made the first challenge a colour challenge, based on some underwear from Pumpkin Patch.I know quite a few people with babies due in the coming months, so I thought I'd use these colours for a baby card. And if I am making a baby card, I usually use Bundle of Joy, the giraffe in particular is so cute! I also really love stamping the moon and stars image using Whisper White ink, it gives such a crisp image.
I enjoyed playing with these colours so much I made a second card, this time using Fishy Friends. This card was inspired by Christine Okken, I loved how she used ric-rac for seaweed. I made my own ric-rac from Cameo Coral and Groovy Guava cardstock using the scallop edge punch (a tutorial for which was included with my newsletter this month). The bottom of the Pretty In Pink layer was brayered lightly with Pretty In Pink ink and sponged with Chocolate Chip.

Birthday Octopus

I needed a birthday card for a little boy, so I decided to play with this "Fishy Friends" octopus again. And I just so happened to have this piece of aqua cardstock that I had run through the Cuttlebug in the swirls embossing folder, so I teamed them up. The octopus was stamped on Whisper White with StazOn Jet Black and coloured with water colour pencils and an aqua painter. The 'Happy Birthday' is an Amazing Creations stamp of my sisters that I had stamped out a few images of on one of her visits. It's a great little stamp, but sadly the company has closed so it will be difficult to track it down. I finished both these pieces off with a bit of watercolouring on the edge (which doesn't show up well in the photo) and with a few spots of Kindy Glitz (in Aqua and Lime). These were mounted on some light blue cardstock (Prisma I think) and are popped up on the cardfront with double-sided foam tape. The 's' clip is by Birch and was a great colour match, but very stiff and hard to push the spirals out a little bit so the cardstock didn't get bent quite so much. The base cardstock is the same Prisma light blue, with a layer of Prisma lime green and the embossed aqua layer.

Tempting Octopus

It was another cyberstamp on Angela Sargeant's forums on Friday night, and despite a book calling me I was determined to get inky! Yes - a cybernight and I actually created instead of chatted (I even had the bench clean before going to bed!). The first challenge was a colour challenge where we could chose one colour from each of three groups. I decided to go for something really different with Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand and Always Artichoke.
I stamped the octopus from the 'Fishy Friends' set with StazOn Jet black on Very Vanilla cardstock, then coloured him with the turquoise and artichoke watercolour crayons. I then realised I had no Sahara Sand for my shadows, so cheated a little bit with Going Grey pastel. The background is the 'Fishy' wheel inked in VersaMark and rolled over a piece of Saraha Sand. I added a circle clip from the pewter hodgepodge hardware kit and a knot of narrow olive organdy (shhhh... it looks artichoke to me!). The main image is popped up on dimensionals, and I ran the edges of the turquoise layer over the turquoise pad so it would stand out from the cardbase a bit more. All products from Stampin' Up!
